The Celtic Connections organisers are especially delighted to welcome distinguished figures from North America to Celtic Connections III, including the President of the American Library Association, Michael Gorman. He will be chairing the opening session of the conference on Libraries in a democratic society, once again a very live topic.

Former Labour Leader and EU Commissioner Neil Kinnock, now Chairman of the British Council, will give the keynote address on Tuesday 16th May, 2006.

Other speakers confirmed include Professor José-Marie Griffiths, Dean of Information and Library Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; Lorcan Dempsey, Vice-President and Chief Strategist at OCLC, and Sandra Ward of TFPL.

The Grand Hall of the National Museum Cardiff will be the venue for the conference banquet on the final evening (18th May). This classical marbled hall has for many years been the venue for prestigious and high profile conference dinners, banquets and receptions. The wine reception in the art galleries will make a great ‘impression’, offering guests an exclusive private view of works of art by Monet, Renoir, Cézanne, Degas and Van Gogh over pre-dinner drinks.
